Vulcan Full-tank gas Mileage. Every time I fill up, it takes about 2. I always reset the mileage counter after I filled up the tank. When I bought it a few months ago, whenever I hit around miles, it started to stall , and I had to flip the switch to reserve. Now, I have been riding all weekdays for last couple of months. I can still ride up to miles with full tank. I never have to flip the switch to reserve. If you guys have the same bike or you know about Vulcan , I believe you could be able to answer for me.

I am wondering what is the max mileage I can ride with full tank without flipping it to reserve. Around miles is not unusual. Blame ethanol in fuel for reducing mpg. I have an 09 Vulcan and fill it up around miles and have never had to use reserve.

It averages bout 48mpg and I weigh around pounds. Years ago I had a 16 valve and it got a strong 50mpg. If you click the link in my sig, you'll see a graph of a month or two of gas mileage for my '95 I generally hit reserve somewhere around miles. I think that, although my tank is a gallon smaller than yours, that my reserve is also much smaller. As for your improved fuel economy, I'd guess that you're either using better gas now or maybe the bike had been sitting for a while before you got it and it's running more efficiently now that you've been riding it regularly and all that crap from sitting around is burned out of it.

You may see your MPG drop precipitously again soon if you live in an area where they switch to winter blended gas in the colder months. Last edited by Leaf; at I usually get around miles before I need to switch to reserve ethanol gas. From that point, I can usually go another 40 miles or so before completely running out of gas.

Click the link in my sig for more fueling info. Funny this just happened to me today. I hit reserve miles and was going to ask about city mileage. I filled her up with exactly 3 gallons. I have an '05 EN that I got in March of I have been filling up at around miles. I have only hit reserve once and that was at miles, was running late for work and firured I could wait for the ride home to get gas. I have had some "wierd" gas tank expriences with my 09 I just bought it new about 2 months ago with.

Now the owners manuel says the tank is 4 gallons, with. The dealer filled it up with gas when I bought, and I had to go to reserve at miles on the first tank and it took 3.

This follows the owners manuel. The second tank of fuel I had to switch to reserve at miles, and it took 2. The 3rd tank was our 1st long ride, back country roads, up mountains, some highway, with me and my wife. I stopped and filled up at miles, did not switch to reserve, and it took only 2. This last tank I had to go on reserve at miles, and it took only 2.

I would think that when ever you had to switch to reserve it should take at least 3. I always fill it to the bottom of the fill neck each time. One last item I use non-ethanol 93 octane fuel. Put God first, and everything else will find it's place. Originally Posted by pongo View Post. Last edited by pongo; at Quote message in reply?
