  • A torque steer is a tendency for the vehicle to pull to one side, as the engine drives the vehicle. This is common on acceleration, and results from an imbalance of.

Thus, there is no connection between accelerating and steering. The net result is that this vehicle needs the front wheel alignment to be.

Could this cause my car to pull? I understand it needs alignment as a result of changing the bottom arm but at the moment it is pulling under.

This is a common scenario when the car is parked outdoors and the weather is cold. I finally fixed it when I replaced the axles. I know the car is jumping because of the rpms are high and the motor is revving , the thing I really noticed was the steering wheel twisting to the right. Recently did arms, struts and top mounts on my SL, only one ball joint had play and the bushes seemed okay. Your alignment is most likely completely to cock which would certainly explain the symptoms you're getting.

    Torque Steer: Causes and Cures

When the car is in 5th and you give it any kind of gas then the steering pulls to one side.. My buddy says my cv axles are going out. I thought it was torque steer but when he said that and I drove it home I decided he may be right..

See if you can check under your car and inspect for boot damage. I may be wrong but I thought that this was a suspect of CV joint failure. Usually if those are about to go I think they start clicking in turns. See if you can get a free inspection AND peace of mind That way the diagnosis can be found first hand, and you can decide what to do about it here.

I thought pulling to one side was because of need of an alignment, but hopefully other people can chime in, because I actually own a b Check the obvious things first. Get a tire guage and check to see you are running consistent pressure at all 4 tires.

I will check the pressure but that is not the problem I didnt say "it pulls all the time to left or right" I said it pulls when accelerating.

I can almost feel one of the axles pulling harder than the other which in turn pulls the car over one way. Prefer some help here if possible cause I know how some places are. I looked at the boots the other day and I didnt see any cracks or breaks but I was looking for something else so I may have missed it.

I will check again today. Last edited by gentlejax2; at I noticed this on the way to work. I know the car is jumping because of the rpms are high and the motor is revving , the thing I really noticed was the steering wheel twisting to the right.

It was really obvious because my hands were off the wheel. I just thought that was from the torque of the motor Check for bad motor mounts. On my classic I had alot of whp and the mounts were on their last legs. Any time you puched it, it would pull to the right, and as revs got higer, the harder it pulled. Then it would drive straight when coasting. Bad mounts allows the engine to shift around and pulls on the axles when doing so, causing torque steer.

Also jack the front of the car up and wiggle each wheel by hand in a front-to-rear motion to check to see if the tie rods, steering rack, or ball joints are worn. And wiggle them up-and-down to see if the wheel bearing or upper stut mount is bad or even the lower control arm bushings in rare cases.

My guess is that the alignment is off, and the motor mounts are crap because you say the car "jumps". Last edited by NissanEgg; at Not usually the tranny so dont get too worried about that right now. Here is my check list. Check wheels for play up down and left to right 3. Last edited by dxpxe; at NissanEgg has a good point on the motor mounts. I say it jumps but i didnt really mean it like it sounded.

Wheel alignment problems? Car pulling to one side?
