Jul 11, TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE - CAMRY,NEVER and have read different blogs here, I have a Toyota Camry LE L engine.

It is interesting! The Toyota logo is a triple oval. Two internal ovals located perpendicularly symbolize a strong relationship between the client and the company. In addition, if you look closely, in these ovals you can see the image of all six letters of the brand name T, O, Y, O, T, A.

Transmission. Toyota Camry and Avalon Check the automatic transmission fluid level at least every 15, miles (24, km). The dipstick is.

Place Funnel in Dipstick Tube Put an appropriate size funnel into the dipstick tube, and add 3. You only need to fill the differential with the car level, otherwise just leave it on ramps or jack stands. I have a Camry 99, and it seems like I'll have to change out the transmission fluid for the first time by myself. So, If you guys think of something else for first timer, please let me know. An ATF drain-and-fill is similar to a motor oil change, except there is no paper filter element to replace, and not all the fluid is drained.

I have Camry 4 cylinder and last transmission fluid complete flush at dearlership [not drain and refill] change was done at dealer in Nov at 67K miles. Now car has K miles on it and transmission fluid was never changed after the flush.

In last two years, I have only driven about 5K miles on this car and most of the time it was just sitting in driveway. Now, I expect to drive this car a lot more than previous years and need to do few things to make sure it runs reliably and without problems. I want to drain and refill the transmission fluid. I will be doing the drain and refill by myself it is my first time and have a few questions to make sure I do it right: My understanding is that Maxlife is partially synthetic.

So, from the experienced guys here, based on my car's history, which brand of oil you guys recommend? Should I mix partially synthetic oil with regular that is in car right now? Or should I use the regular oil? Do I need to place jack stands on each side of car or can I place it on one side only and drain the fluid properly? Which side, if only one driver side i think?

Sorry if it sounds stupid but does it matter which side is raised first? I read in one of the posts that I have to drive the car a bit like mins before I start to change because fluid needs to be hot. Can I keep the car running in park for 5 minutes or do I acutally have to drive it around? I have already bought a plastic drain pan and now not sure if transmission oil would be hot enough to melt the pan pan doesn't have temp rating stamped on it. I think I will be OK but just want to run it by more experienced people here and see if need to take any precautions.

Do I really need to replace the drain plug gasket or can I reuse it? How important is it that drain plug is tightened to proper torque 36 ft.

Ibs according to chilton manual. I ask because I don't have a torque wrench. If I need to buy one, do you guys have any recommendation or learning guide on how to use it? I will look it up on google too but it is always good to know from experts. I looked in the DIY section but that applies to Gen 3 only.

So, If you guys think of something else for first timer, please let me know. I appreciate and thank you for your time. I like the feel of the transmission shifts with Maxlife. You can mix it with any other ATF. I always use a new sump wash, personal preference. Jack stands are not needed, its tight but can be done.

I never worried about torque settings on a sump plug. Andy The past is a foreign country. Gone but not forgotten.

It's inexpensive and meets Dexron III specifications. But you can use anything you want if it meets Dexron III specs. You'll need to raise the drivers side to access the drain plug and the differential drain and refill plugs. If you are worried about a complete drain then lower the car while it drains. It's better to drive it because it agitates the fluid and mixes in any dirt, thus getting more of the dirt out when the fluid drains.
